Work Location: On-site at Nielsen Chevrolet
Schedule: 48-hour workweek scheduled across five days, Monday through Saturday, with Sundays and one designated weekday off
Position Summary
Nielsen Chevrolet is seeking motivated, personable, and coachable individuals interested in building a career in automotive sales!
Previous automotive sales experience is not required. We provide paid training in vehicle knowledge, customer communication, dealership technology, compliance requirements, and the sales process. Candidates with experience in retail, restaurants, hospitality, wireless sales, customer service, call centers, or other customer-facing environments are encouraged to apply.
The successful candidate will be dependable, professional, comfortable speaking with customers, and willing to learn and follow a structured sales process.
Responsibilities
- Welcome customers and create a professional, comfortable dealership experience.
- Ask appropriate questions to understand each customer’s vehicle needs, preferences, priorities, and budget considerations.
- Assist customers in reviewing available new and pre-owned vehicles.
- Learn and accurately explain vehicle features, technology, warranties, available programs, and approved dealership information.
- Conduct vehicle demonstrations and accompany customers on authorized test drives.
- Respond promptly and professionally to showroom customers, internet leads, telephone calls, emails, and text messages.
- Schedule, confirm, and follow up on customer appointments.
- Maintain professional contact with prospective customers according to the dealership’s approved follow-up process.
- Enter complete and accurate customer information, communications, appointments, and follow-up activity in the dealership CRM.
- Use only Company-approved systems, devices, telephone numbers, email accounts, and communication platforms.
- Honor customer communication preferences, opt-out requests, and do-not-call instructions.
- Coordinate with sales managers regarding vehicle availability, pricing, trade-in evaluations, incentives, and transaction terms.
- Present pricing, payments, incentives, and other transaction information only as authorized by management.
- Avoid making unauthorized promises or guarantees concerning pricing, financing approval, interest rates, payments, incentives, trade values, or vehicle availability.
- Work with sales management and the finance department to support an accurate and efficient purchasing process.
- Ensure required customer and transaction documentation is completed accurately and submitted promptly.
- Assist with vehicle delivery by reviewing features, operating instructions, applicable documents, and scheduled follow-up.
- Maintain customer relationships before, during, and after the sale.
- Follow up with customers regarding satisfaction, questions, referrals, and future vehicle needs.
- Participate fully in paid sales, product, technology, compliance, and professional-development training.
- Maintain knowledge of Chevrolet vehicles, dealership inventory, manufacturer programs, and approved promotions.
- Protect customer financial, identification, contact, credit, and transaction information.
- Immediately report suspected fraud, identity theft, unauthorized access, phishing attempts, falsified information, or other compliance and information-security concerns.
- Maintain a professional appearance and help keep the showroom, work area, and customer-facing spaces organized.
- Move or operate customer and Company vehicles only when authorized, properly licensed, and eligible under Company insurance requirements.
- Comply with Company distracted-driving requirements whenever operating or moving a vehicle.
- Represent Nielsen Chevrolet with professionalism, honesty, energy, and a positive attitude.
- Perform other related duties as assigned based on business needs.
Qualifications
- Previous automotive sales experience is not required.
- Customer-service, retail, hospitality, restaurant, call-center, wireless-sales, or other customer-facing experience is helpful.
- Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to learn.
- Professional and confident communication skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively in person, by telephone, through email, and by text message.
- Ability to listen carefully and identify customer needs.
- Willingness to follow an established sales, documentation, and customer follow-up process.
- Competitive and goal-oriented mindset.
- Ability to accept coaching, feedback, and ongoing performance development.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple customers, leads, appointments, and follow-up responsibilities.
- Basic computer skills and willingness to learn CRM, inventory, communication, and dealership systems.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Ability to work effectively with sales, finance, service, BDC, and management employees.
- Ability to work the assigned retail schedule, including [confirm evening and Saturday requirements].
- Valid driver’s license and a driving record acceptable under Company insurance requirements.
- Sound judgment and discretion when handling confidential customer and Company information.
- Bilingual communication skills are a plus when relevant to the dealership’s customer base.
Physical Requirements
The employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation, including:
- Standing and walking for extended periods.
- Walking throughout the showroom, dealership lot, and vehicle-display areas.
- Entering and exiting vehicles and demonstrating vehicle features.
- Operating passenger vehicles safely when trained and authorized.
- Working indoors and outdoors in varying seasonal weather conditions.
- Using computers, telephones, tablets, and other dealership equipment.
